Chaturmas 2025: Auspicious Wedding Muhurats and Dates After the Pause

Chaturmas 2025: Auspicious Wedding Muhurats and Dates After the Pause

In Hinduism, auspicious timings hold special significance for auspicious events like weddings. Like every year, 2025 will also see the arrival of a four-month period when weddings are completely paused. This period is known as Chaturmas.

When will Chaturmas begin in 2025?

Chaturmas will begin on July 6, 2025. This day is Devshayani Ekadashi, when Lord Vishnu enters yogic sleep. It is believed that when the Lord Himself is at rest, it is not appropriate to perform auspicious ceremonies. For this reason, no auspicious work is done for four months. This period is considered sacred, but it is a time of introspection and penance, not of celebrations and events.

Why weddings are not performed during Chaturmas

According to religious beliefs, during Chaturmas, Lord Vishnu goes into yogic sleep in the Ksheer Sagar (Ocean of Milk). During this time, the activities of the gods also come to a halt. The blessings of Lord Vishnu are very important for auspicious ceremonies like marriage. Performing such activities during his rest reduces the chances of success. Additionally, according to astrology, the planets Guru (Jupiter) and Shukra (Venus) are in a state of combustion (setting) during this time, which are considered to be the main planets for marriage.

When will Chaturmas end and when will auspicious work begin?

This year, Chaturmas will end on November 1, 2025, on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi. On this day, Lord Vishnu awakens again and becomes active in the welfare of the world. Auspicious work will resume the very next day, i.e., from November 2. The festival of Tulsi Vivah is also celebrated on November 2, which is considered very auspicious. Many people start wedding-related work from this day.

Wedding Muhurats to open with Tulsi Vivah

November 2 is Tulsi Vivah, which has been given special religious significance. In the scriptures, the marriage of Tulsi and Lord Vishnu's form Shaligram is considered sacred. From this day, the sound of shehnai (a traditional Indian wind instrument) will once again be heard on earth.

Auspicious Muhurats for weddings in November 2025

After Devuthani Ekadashi, many good muhurats (auspicious times) for weddings are forming in the month of November. According to pundits and the Panchang (Hindu calendar), November will have auspicious yogas for marriage on the 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 8th, 12th, 13th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 25th, and 30th. All these dates have been decided based on the suitability of the planets and constellations.

The wedding season will start again across the country on these dates, and the wedding venues will be bustling with activity once more. According to astrologers, the month of November this year is going to be quite busy and fortunate in terms of wedding events.

Three special muhurats available in December 2025

If a wedding cannot be held in November for any reason, some special days will also be available in December. In December 2025, auspicious muhurats for marriage are forming on the 4th, 5th, and 6th. All three days are full of auspicious yogas and are considered ideal for auspicious ceremonies like marriage.

With these muhurats, the 2025 wedding season will begin, and the sound of shehnai will be heard again across the country. After the end of Chaturmas, the families who had stopped preparations for the wedding will now return to the festive mood once again.

According to the pundits, special attention needs to be paid these days

In determining the wedding muhurat, not only the date, but also the couple's horoscope, location, time, and family traditions are taken into consideration. Sometimes, even if there is a muhurat in the Panchang, that day is not suitable for a particular family. Therefore, one should definitely get a personal muhurat determined with the advice of pundits.
