P. Chidambaram Links Delhi Bomb Blast to Domestic Terrorism, Criticizes Government
Last Updated: 13-11-2025

While commenting on the Delhi bomb blast case, former Union Home Minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram stated that he has consistently maintained that there are two types of terrorists: one type consists of those who infiltrate after receiving training from abroad, and the other type comprises those who emerge within the country.

New Delhi: Two days after the horrific bomb blast near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi, former Union Home Minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram criticized the central government over the growing threat of terrorism. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people and left many others seriously injured.
Chidambaram stated on his official social media handle that there are two types of terrorists: one is foreign-trained infiltrator terrorists, and the other is domestic terrorists.

He had previously made this point during a debate on Operation Sindoor in Parliament. Chidambaram mentioned that he was ridiculed and trolled on social media regarding the issue of domestic terrorists, but the government remained silent because it is aware that terrorists also exist within the country.

Chidambaram's statement is not only significant in the context of the Delhi bomb blast but also raises the question of the circumstances under which Indian citizens turn towards terrorism. He stated that we should ask ourselves what social, economic, and political conditions lead any educated citizen down the path of violence.

Delhi Bomb Blast and NIA Investigation

The bomb blast that occurred in Delhi on Monday evening shook the national capital. The attack resulted in 12 deaths and dozens injured. Following the incident, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has initiated an investigation, considering the gravity of the matter. The Union Cabinet immediately declared the blast a “terrorist incident.” Although Chidambaram did not directly mention this specific blast in his post, he raised questions about the serious problem of rising terrorism in the country.

Chidambaram specifically emphasized domestic terrorism, stating that this problem is not just like external threats but is festering within the country. According to him, the government's silence highlights the fact that it has information regarding the identity of domestic terrorists and their networks. The former Home Minister had previously questioned the government's actions after Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror attack. He had asked where the terrorist attackers were and why they had not been apprehended.

Following the bomb blast, Delhi Police has heightened security in the capital. Officials have appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and requested immediate reporting of any suspicious objects or activities. As part of security measures, police teams are issuing warnings via loudspeakers in crowded markets, bus terminals, and railway stations. Citizens are urged to promptly report unattended bags or suspicious activities to the police.
