Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is currently on an official visit to Japan with the stated objective of increasing investment and strengthening industrial cooperation for Uttar Pradesh. During the visit, special arrangements have been made to ensure that his dietary regulations are strictly followed.
Strict Vegetarian Arrangements in Tokyo
In Tokyo, where investment meetings are underway, the Indian Embassy has ensured arrangements in accordance with the Chief Minister’s dietary rules. He follows a strict vegetarian diet that excludes onion and garlic. Clear instructions have been issued to Japanese chefs to prepare food that is completely vegetarian and does not include onion or garlic.
A specially prepared vegetarian version of Japanese miso soup will be served. Tofu has also been included in the menu. Boiled vegetables, simple meals, and soy milk will form part of his diet. In the morning, he will consume herbal tea or warm water. Arrangements from breakfast through lunch and dinner have been planned with specific attention to his dietary preferences.
Role of the Indian Embassy
Officials of the Indian Embassy in Japan coordinated with the local hotel and chefs in advance to communicate the Chief Minister’s dietary requirements. The arrangements were made to ensure that his religious and cultural practices are respected during the foreign visit. Similar special arrangements have been made for Indian leaders during overseas visits in the past; however, additional care has been taken in view of his strict dietary discipline.

Reception in Tokyo
Upon his arrival in Tokyo, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was received at the airport by Yamanashi Prefecture Vice Governor Junichi Ishidera and members of the Indian diaspora. India’s Ambassador to Japan, Nagma M. Malik, also welcomed him. This is his first official visit to Japan. Members of the Indian community met the Chief Minister and discussed investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh.
Focus on Investment and Industrial Cooperation
According to officials, the primary objective of the visit is to attract foreign investment to Uttar Pradesh. Meetings are scheduled with industrial groups and companies, during which discussions will focus on infrastructure, manufacturing, technology, and agriculture-based industries.
During an earlier visit to Singapore, a delegation led by the Chief Minister attracted investment proposals worth approximately Rs 6,000 crore. The government has expressed the expectation that significant investment proposals will also emerge from the Japan visit.
Personal Discipline and Public Perception
The Chief Minister’s adherence to a simple lifestyle and regulated daily routine has often been noted. Political analysts have stated that such simplicity strengthens his public image and conveys that he does not compromise on his traditions and lifestyle, whether in India or abroad. They further state that arranging a strict vegetarian meal in a country with a different food culture reflects mutual respect between India and Japan.
Efforts to Position Uttar Pradesh Globally
The visit is being regarded as strategically important. The state government is advancing projects in sectors including the defence corridor, electronics manufacturing, and infrastructure. Japan is a leading country in technology and industrial development. The government’s stated objective is to position Uttar Pradesh as a preferred investment destination through strengthened international partnerships.
