Chris Jericho debuted in WWE in 1999 and subsequently achieved numerous titles and records during his illustrious career with the company for over 15 years. In 2018, Jericho decided to leave WWE and join All Elite Wrestling (AEW). From the inception of AEW, Jericho led the team and also became the first AEW World Champion. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Jericho stated that having two major companies in the wrestling industry is beneficial. He said, "The best thing for wrestling is AEW. Having two big companies is good for both the wrestlers and the fans." Jericho clarified that he is currently with AEW but did not entirely rule out the possibility of returning to WWE.  

He added, "I'm not going anywhere right now. I'm with AEW. Will I go back to WWE? I'm not against it." This statement has brought a ray of hope for fans that Jericho might return to WWE at the 2026 Royal Rumble event.

Several Big Names from AEW Have Already Returned to WWE

Rumors of Chris Jericho's return to WWE have been strengthened by the fact that several prominent AEW superstars have already made their way back to WWE.

  • Cody Rhodes: After serving as an Executive Vice President in AEW for three years, Cody returned to WWE and is now a WWE Champion.
  • CM Punk: CM Punk, who debuted in AEW in 2021, left AEW in 2023 after controversies and returned to WWE.
