Congress Announces Six Candidates for Rajya Sabha Elections Including Abhishek Manu Singhvi

The Indian National Congress has released a list of six candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in India. The party announced the names of the candidates on Thursday.

Senior advocate and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi has been nominated again from Telangana. Singhvi is currently a Rajya Sabha member from Telangana, and the party has nominated him again for the seat.

Two Rajya Sabha seats are scheduled for election in Telangana. The Congress has nominated Singhvi for one of these seats.

For the second seat in Telangana, the Congress has nominated V. Narendra Reddy, who is considered close to the Chief Minister. The party stated that Reddy’s organisational experience and regional presence could support the party in the election.

From Chhattisgarh, the Congress has renominated Phulo Devi Netam for the Rajya Sabha election. Netam is currently a member of the Rajya Sabha and represents the tribal community. She has been associated with the Congress for a long time.

In Himachal Pradesh, the Congress has nominated Anurag Sharma, president of the Kangra District Congress Committee, as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha.

From Haryana, the party has fielded Karmveer Singh Boudh as its Rajya Sabha candidate. Boudh is a resident of Ambala and previously retired from the post of superintendent in the civil secretariat.

The Congress has also nominated M Christopher Tilak as its Rajya Sabha candidate from Tamil Nadu.

The party has nominated candidates from different states who have organisational roles and political experience within the party.

Separately, political developments have been reported in Bihar. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha election.

According to information available, Nitish Kumar is expected to reach the Bihar Legislative Assembly at around 11:30 am on Thursday to file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha election. Janata Dal (United) leader Ramnath Thakur will also file his nomination as a candidate.

It has been reported that Union Home Minister Amit Shah may also be present during the nomination process.

Discussions regarding the possibility of a new Chief Minister in Bihar have intensified following reports of Nitish Kumar’s move to the Rajya Sabha. It is being discussed that if Nitish Kumar resigns from the post of Chief Minister, the state could see a Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Minister for the first time.

According to sources, a recent meeting of the Janata Dal (United) discussed the possibility of Nitish Kumar taking on an active role in national politics in New Delhi. However, no official statement has been issued by the party on this matter.
