Sources indicated that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has decided to move to the Rajya Sabha, a development that could lead to changes in the political arrangement in Bihar. According to the sources, the move could clear the way for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to assume the chief minister’s position in the state.
Reports from Patna indicate that Nitish Kumar has signalled a significant step in state politics by deciding to enter the Rajya Sabha. If the move materialises, it could alter the balance of power in Bihar and potentially result in the chief minister’s post going to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Discussions regarding the possible change have intensified in political circles, with attention focused on the forthcoming developments.
Purnia Member of Parliament Pappu Yadav criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party over the development. In a post on social media, he said that when the mandate in Bihar had supported Nitish Kumar continuing as chief minister, it raised questions why the BJP would change the arrangement within three months. He warned that “insulting the mandate will prove costly for the BJP and the outcome will be disastrous for them.”

Pappu Yadav’s statement has drawn attention among opposition leaders and political observers. According to him, the BJP’s move would be contrary to public trust and could further intensify the political atmosphere.
Sources said Nitish Kumar is expected to soon file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha election. The nomination is scheduled to be filed in Patna in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Rajya Sabha election will be held on March 16 and the results will be announced the same day. Ahead of filing the nomination, Nitish Kumar has planned a meeting with leaders of the Janata Dal (United). The meeting is considered important for discussions on political strategy and upcoming decisions. If Nitish Kumar moves to the Rajya Sabha, the possibility of the chief minister’s position in Bihar going to the Bharatiya Janata Party could increase.
Amid reports of Nitish Kumar moving to the Rajya Sabha, discussions have also emerged about his son Nishant Kumar entering politics. According to sources, Nishant Kumar is expected to join the Janata Dal (United) today. The move is being viewed as an effort to strengthen the family’s and the party’s political position.
