Actress Lilette Dubey announced the death on social media, stating that Vijay Krishna had been a member of their theatre family and the play “Dance Like A Man” for more than 25 years. She wrote that he was a versatile personality and described him as a fine actor, handsome and extremely humorous. Dubey added that many memories of him would remain with colleagues and that he would never be forgotten.
Dubey also expressed condolences to Krishna’s family, mentioning his wife Smita, daughters Nyrika and Freyan, and other family members, and said their prayers were with the family during the difficult time.
Actor Anupam Kher responded to Dubey’s post and paid tribute, writing that the news was very sad and adding “Om Shanti.” Actor Saba Pataudi also remembered Vijay Krishna and offered condolences.
Vijay Krishna had appeared in several Hindi films, including “Devdas,” in which he played the father of Shah Rukh Khan’s character. The cause of his death has not been clarified.
In addition to his film work, Krishna was active in theatre and live performances for many years. He performed in multiple theatre productions and contributed to stage performances alongside his film roles.
