Kashmir Cyber Police shared an advisory on X and Facebook platforms, advising users to avoid falling for fake investment schemes. In this scam, after gaining trust through registration and content rating, individuals are persuaded to make larger investments after initially investing small amounts. Registering a complaint in time increases the possibility of recovering financial losses.

According to officials, fraudsters first gain people's trust and then lure them into fake investment schemes. Kashmir Cyber Police has shared an advisory on X and Facebook platforms, urging general citizens to remain vigilant, as fraudulent incidents through these apps and websites are continuously increasing.

Method of Fraud

In the initial phase of the Zupedia scam, users are registered on the app or website and then asked to rate online content. After a few days, they are persuaded to recharge amounts like ₹1,950, ₹8,000, and ₹24,000 in the name of investment. Initial payments are used to win the users' trust, after which they are encouraged to invest more.

Subsequently, users are often unable to withdraw their earnings and suffer severe financial losses. In some cases, the fraudsters have completely emptied users' accounts. This scam poses a particular threat to new and inexperienced online investment users.

How to Avoid and Lodge a Complaint

The government has provided an easy way for affected individuals to register cybercrime complaints. Users who have fallen victim to the Zupedia scam can immediately file an online complaint on the cybercrime portal. Additionally, complaints can also be lodged by calling the helpline number 1930. According to experts, registering a complaint in a timely manner increases the chances of recovering financial losses and getting money back.
