Bribe notes flew into the air outside the police station, and people present nearby rushed to grab them. Meanwhile, the vigilance team arrested the accused ASI Rakesh Kumar. He is accused of demanding a bribe in exchange for implicating people in false cases.
Bribe Notes Thrown into the Air
Actually, on Tuesday, the vigilance team attempted to apprehend Rakesh Kumar while he was accepting a bribe. It is alleged that when an attempt was made to catch him, he threw 500-rupee notes into the air. This caused a sudden commotion among the people present nearby, and many people started picking up the notes and running away.
During this scramble, notes totaling approximately five thousand rupees fell into the hands of the public, while the vigilance team only managed to recover 10,000 rupees. The scene resembled a sequence from a web series, but in reality, it occurred outside the Hauz Qazi police station in Old Delhi.
Vigilance Team Had Laid a Trap
According to the Vigilance Unit of the Delhi Police, a written complaint was filed by a resident of Sita Ram Bazaar on September 9. The complaint stated that ASI Rakesh Kumar was demanding a bribe in exchange for implicating the complainant in false cases.
Following the complaint, the vigilance team laid a trap to apprehend the ASI. On Tuesday afternoon, around 12:30 PM, the complainant arrived at the police station, and ASI Rakesh was also present at the station at the same time. Subsequently, both came out of the police station, where the incident of notes being thrown into the air took place.
Crowd Competed for the Notes
As soon as the notes scattered, a stampede broke out among the people present nearby. People tried to grab the money and run away. The vigilance team dispersed the crowd after considerable effort and apprehended the ASI. However, some notes did fall into the hands of the public during this incident.
Local residents described the scene as highly unusual. Ordinary people and shopkeepers alike started running towards the notes. The vigilance team made significant efforts to control the situation, thereby securing the remaining notes.

The vigilance team has arrested the accused ASI Rakesh Kumar. He is accused of demanding bribes in exchange for implicating individuals in false cases. According to the police, necessary legal action is being taken against the arrested accused.
