Delhi AAP Leader Atishi Accuses BJP of Conspiracy in Kalkaji Slum Demolition

Concerns over Bulldozer Action on Landless Camp in Kalkaji; Atishi Accuses BJP Government of Conspiracy; Education Bill Sparks Controversy; Allegations of Police Misconduct.

Delhi News: News of impending bulldozer action on the slums of a landless camp in Kalkaji, Delhi, has sparked a political storm. Atishi, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and MLA from Kalkaji, launched a scathing attack on the BJP government. On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, she visited the protest site and alleged that the BJP is systematically demolishing Delhi's slums as part of a conspiracy. Furthermore, Atishi and the BJP are at odds over Delhi's new education bill.

Threat of Bulldozers Looms over Landless Camp

Residents of the landless camp in Kalkaji face the imminent threat of bulldozer demolition. Atishi claimed that the slums in this area will be demolished on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. She criticized Delhi's Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, accusing her of hiding behind court orders. Atishi alleges that the BJP, through the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), argued in court that the landless camp residents would not be provided alternative housing.

Atishi also pointed out that two days prior, Rekha Gupta had claimed that no slums would be demolished in Delhi. However, she now alleges a conspiracy is underway to demolish the homes in the landless camp. She accused the BJP of systematically targeting Delhi's slums.

Allegations of Police Misconduct

Atishi made a startling revelation during the protest. She stated that the Delhi Police detained her and took her to Jaroda Kalan. Furthermore, she alleged that the police misbehaved with the female residents of the landless camp. Atishi claimed that the BJP government is anti-poor and is attempting to suppress their voices.

Atishi's Sharp Criticism of the Education Bill

Amidst the bulldozer controversy, Atishi also targeted the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fee Fixation and Regulation) Bill, calling it a "backdoor law." She claims the bill was passed without discussion and is neither in the best interests of children nor parents. She alleges the bill is designed to benefit private schools.

BJP's Response: Bill Described as Historic

Delhi government minister Ashish Sud defended the education bill, calling it a historic step and stating that it will come into effect from April 1, 2025. Sud claimed that this bill presents a golden opportunity for Delhi residents. The bill has now been sent to the President for approval.
