Delhi Man Commits Suicide Using Helium Gas in First Such Case

A shocking case of suicide has emerged in Delhi, marking the first instance of using helium gas to end one's life. Dheeraj Kansal, a 25-year-old Chartered Accountant, committed suicide in a paying guest house located on Barakhamba Road in the capital. According to the police, this is the first case of suicide by helium gas in Delhi. Dheeraj was a resident of Karnal, Haryana, and worked for a private company in Gurugram. He had been staying at a guest house in Bengali Market since July 20th.

Posted Suicide Note on Facebook Before Taking His Life

Before committing suicide, Dheeraj also posted a suicide note on Facebook, clarifying that no one else was responsible for his death. He also wrote that if his Facebook post was removed, the suicide note found in the room would be sufficient to explain his thoughts. The matter came to light when his checkout time passed on July 28th, and a b odor started emanating from the guest house room. Upon receiving the information, the police, FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory), and fire department teams reached the spot and broke down the door to enter the room. Dheeraj's body was found lying on the bed, with a helium cylinder pipe in his mouth and his face covered with a mask and plastic, which was taped around his neck. A cylinder, mask, and gas meter were recovered from the scene.

Suicide Planned in Detail

Police investigation revealed that Dheeraj had planned the suicide in advance. He was living in a PG (Paying Guest accommodation) in the Mahipalpur area of Mehrauli and had ordered the helium gas from an online website. After that, he deliberately stayed at the guest house on Barakhamba Road to commit suicide. Police also found his mobile phone and other electronic gadgets at the scene, which are being investigated.

Dheeraj's family background also appears to have influenced his mental state. The police have learned that Dheeraj's father passed away in 2003, after which his mother remarried. He had no siblings and had been living alone for a long time. He got the job in the Gurugram company with the help of his uncle.

Suicide Method Shocks

This case is also in the news because helium gas is usually used to inflate balloons for parties or decorations, but Dheeraj used it to end his life. According to experts, breathing helium gas replaces oxygen in the body, which causes suffocation and death within minutes. Currently, the police have sent the body for post-mortem and are investigating the case from all angles.
