Delhi NCR Under Severe Heatwave; Temperatures to Reach 45°C

Delhi-NCR is experiencing extreme summer heat in June. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures in the national capital could reach 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days, posing a significant health risk.

Weather Forecast: A severe heatwave has once again gripped North India. Temperatures are steadily rising in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Delhi-NCR. The IMD predicts Delhi's temperature could reach 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days, while Rajasthan continues to experience a heatwave. However, pre-monsoon rain is anticipated in some parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, potentially offering some relief.

Delhi-NCR: Heatwave 'Yellow Alert'

The capital city, Delhi, and surrounding areas are experiencing extreme heat. The meteorological department has issued a warning of intense heat for the next three to four days, starting Tuesday. A 'yellow alert' has been declared for Delhi, indicating unusual weather conditions and advising caution. Delhi's temperature is expected to remain between 43-45 degrees Celsius this week.

Strong surface winds (20-30 km/h) are also expected during the day, but these will be hot winds, intensifying rather than alleviating the heat.

Rajasthan: 47.4 Degrees in Ganganagar, Heatwave in Several Districts

Rajasthan is bracing for an intensification of the heatwave. The impact of the heatwave persists, particularly in districts like Bikaner, Ganganagar, Churu, Jaisalmer, and Barmer. Ganganagar recorded a temperature of 47.4°C on Sunday, a new record for this season. Dry weather will prevail across most parts of the state. On June 10th, dusty winds (30-40 km/h) are expected in the Bikaner division and adjoining areas, impacting visibility and air quality.

The state government has issued a health alert, urging caution, especially for children and the elderly.

Uttar Pradesh: Rain Expected in 48 Hours

After enduring severe heat, Uttar Pradesh is showing signs of pre-monsoon rain relief. The meteorological department predicts rain in eastern Uttar Pradesh within the next 48 hours, gradually moving towards the western parts of the state. Areas like Agra, Jhansi, Prayagraj, and Orai are currently experiencing the most intense heat. A heatwave warning is in effect until June 10th, but a change in weather is expected from June 11th.

Bihar: Weather May Change in 24 Hours

The situation remains concerning in Bihar. Except for the Kosi and Seemanchal regions, there is currently little prospect of rain in the rest of the state. Cities like Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Darbhanga continue to experience intense heat. However, a change in weather is expected from the night of June 10th due to a developing weather system in the Bay of Bengal and the activation of south-westerly winds. Light rain and b winds are possible in some areas between June 11th and 12th. According to the Patna Meteorological Center, local thunderstorms and rain are possible in the next two days, potentially leading to a slight drop in temperature.
