Delhi Police apprehended notorious criminal Guddu after an encounter for his arrest in the Shalimar Bagh rape case. During the encounter, Guddu fired at the police, but the police shot him in the leg, injuring him, and then apprehended him.
New Delhi: Late last night in Delhi, police arrested notorious criminal Guddu. He was wanted in the Shalimar Bagh rape case and was an accused in several serious criminal cases. Guddu was injured in an encounter during a trap laid near Munak Canal, but the police succeeded in apprehending him. Weapons were recovered from him, and during initial interrogation, he confessed his involvement in several crimes.
Serious Criminal Cases Registered Against Guddu
Guddu already had serious cases registered against him, including attempted murder, rape, and robbery. He was out on bail in an attempted murder case. The cases filed against him included several dozen criminal complaints, also covering thefts and brawls that occurred in the local area.
According to the police, Guddu had been continuously sought after a case was registered at Shalimar Bagh Police Station in August 2025. Both local police and Special Staff were vigilant in monitoring his activities. Guddu's name was on several most-wanted lists, which led the team to adopt a special strategy for his arrest.
Special Staff Team for the Encounter
A North West Special Staff team was formed for the encounter. Led by Inspector Somveer Singh, the team set up a trap near the slums of CA Block, close to Munak Canal. ACP Operations Ranjeet Dhaka and Head Constable Satya Narendra were also part of the team.
The objective of setting the trap was to intercept and apprehend the suspect. At approximately 1:00 AM late at night, the police spotted the suspect and identified him as Guddu. During this, Guddu attempted to flee, prompting the team to issue a warning, and the encounter process began.
Guddu's Arrest
While fleeing, Guddu fired at the police. Head Constable Narsi Ram's bulletproof vest saved his life. Police immediately retaliated, and Head Constable Satya Narendra shot Guddu in the leg, bringing him down.
Subsequently, Guddu was apprehended and taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital. He received primary treatment there, and his health condition was reported as stable. Police increased security at the scene and sealed off the surrounding area.
Weapons Recovered from Guddu
A country-made pistol, one live cartridge, and one spent cartridge were recovered from Guddu. Police stated that this weapon was intended for use in several of Guddu's criminal activities. The recovered items will assist the police in further investigation.
During initial interrogation, Guddu confessed his involvement in the Shalimar Bagh rape case and other criminal activities. Police have appealed to the public that if anyone has information about Guddu or his associates, they should immediately inform the police. This will help prevent future crimes.
