Tripura concluded the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 with participation from more than 2,700 delegates from India and abroad. During the two-day event, 342 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, generating potential investment proposals worth ₹1,21,303 crore. Industries and Commerce Department Secretary Kiran Gitte said at the closing session that the conclave marked the largest investment outreach initiative in the state's history.
Kiran Gitte said preparations for the conclave began around six to seven months in advance. To attract investors, the state government organised roadshows in Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Guwahati and other major cities. The campaigns were conducted with support from FICCI and various industrial organisations. According to the government, the extensive outreach generated positive responses at both the national and international levels.
A total of 2,731 participants registered for the conclave, including government officials, investors and representatives of various companies. Delegations attended from different Indian states as well as Dubai, Canada and other countries. Representatives from 11 countries' diplomatic missions and delegates from a Japanese trade organisation also participated in the event.
Instead of conventional departmental stalls, the conclave featured theme-based pavilions. Various state government departments, central agencies and public sector undertakings related to the same sector were grouped together, enabling investors to assess opportunities in industries, logistics, energy, healthcare, tourism and information technology. The model was based on formats used at major investment summits in the country.
Business-to-Government (B2G) meetings were organised as part of the conclave, allowing investors to interact directly with ministers of the concerned departments. The state government said political leadership plays an important role in major investment decisions. The Chief Minister and other ministers also met foreign delegates and invited larger investment delegations to visit Tripura in the future.
The healthcare sector emerged as one of the key areas of interest during the conclave. Investment proposals included plans for a super-speciality hospital at Sabroom, a cancer hospital in North Tripura and two private medical colleges. The government said these projects are expected to strengthen healthcare services in the state and improve access to medical facilities.
The conclave also recorded agreements in the information technology sector. Investment proposals covered artificial intelligence, robotics, software development, IT parks and data centres. The government said investments in the digital sector are expected to create employment opportunities for young people and support Tripura's technological development.
Several multi-sector agreements were signed through the Industries and Commerce Department, with participation from national and international companies. According to the government, the investment proposals cover manufacturing, trade, food processing and other industrial sectors, while also providing opportunities for local entrepreneurs to expand their businesses.
Kiran Gitte said the impact of the state's business reforms and investment-friendly policies implemented over the past few years is now becoming visible. He added that while attracting investment is important, ensuring that proposed projects are implemented on time and benefit the people of the state remains equally important.
The state government said that if the investment proposals announced during the conclave are converted into operational projects, they could generate thousands of new jobs. It added that industrial development could also create opportunities across tourism, healthcare, information technology and the services sector.
The government clarified that the investment proposals announced during the conclave are preliminary. All MoUs will be verified in coordination with FICCI and the concerned departments. Any proposal found to contain technical errors or duplication will be removed from the final list before the official figures are released.
