After Dr. Shaheen was named as a suspected accused in the recent Delhi blast and the terrorist module uncovered in Faridabad, Haryana, her ex-husband, Dr. Zafar Hayat, has broken his silence.
New Delhi: Following the emergence of Dr. Shaheen's name in connection with the Delhi blast and the terrorist conspiracy in Faridabad, Haryana, her former husband, Dr. Zafar Hayat, has spoken out. Dr. Zafar is currently posted at Kanpur Medical College. He stated that his divorce from Shaheen was finalized in 2012. Dr. Zafar further mentioned that their marriage took place in 2006 and was an arranged marriage.
During their marriage, they had two children, who currently live with him. He clarified that he has had no contact with Shaheen since their divorce and has no involvement in this matter.
Dr. Shaheen's Intention to Go Abroad
Dr. Zafar Hayat stated that his marriage to Dr. Shaheen took place in 2006 as an arranged marriage. During this time, they had two children, who are currently living with him. He said that the divorce happened in 2012, and since then, he has had no contact with Shaheen. Dr. Zafar commented, "We separated six years after our marriage. Since the divorce, I have no information about Shaheen's location or activities, nor do my children."
The ex-husband also revealed that Dr. Shaheen was quite liberal and religiously conscious from the beginning. Her intention was to settle in Australia or Europe, but Dr. Zafar refused to move abroad. Dr. Zafar Hayat stated, "When we got married, Dr. Parvez was doing MBBS and didn't talk much. Shaheen always expressed a desire to live abroad, but it wasn't possible."
Dr. Zafar also mentioned that he has not told his children everything that is now emerging in the news about Shaheen. He believes that only Dr. Shaheen can provide the true reasons in this matter.
Family's Reaction
After the names of Dr. Shaheen and her younger brother, Dr. Parvez, emerged in the Faridabad terrorist module, their elder brother, Mohammed Shoaib, also reacted. Shoaib said, "I cannot believe that both of them would have done something like this. Dr. Shaheen was very good at studies from childhood, and her behavior was always peaceful."
Shoaib also stated that the family had no contact with Dr. Shaheen for four years, and she did not visit the family due to a family dispute. He believes that from the family's perspective, this accusation does not align with her image. Following the emergence of Dr. Shaheen's name in the investigation of the Delhi blast and the Faridabad module, security agencies are continuously investigating. Officials reported that security and intelligence investigations into the matter are ongoing.
