Google has added a new Personal Intelligence feature to its AI assistant Gemini, aimed at delivering more personalised and context-aware responses through secure connections with select Google apps, enhanced reasoning capabilities, and user-controlled privacy settings.
The company said the Personal Intelligence feature allows Gemini to connect securely with selected Google apps to provide responses based on user needs, context, and permission-based data, while keeping full control over privacy in the hands of users.
According to Google, the feature is designed with advanced reasoning and connected data sources in mind. Once an app is connected, Gemini can use information from emails, photos, or other permitted data sources to generate more context-aware responses.

For example, when a user asks about a plan or specific information, Gemini can draw relevant details from connected emails or photos to offer more accurate responses.
Google stated that user privacy has been prioritised in the design of the feature. By default, Gemini does not connect to any Google app. Users must explicitly choose which apps they want to link with the AI assistant.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that control over data and app connections will remain entirely with users, and no personal information will be used without permission.
The Personal Intelligence feature has been launched in beta and is currently being rolled out in the United States for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. It is available on the web, as well as Android and iOS platforms.
