Gorakhpur: Two people died in separate drowning incidents during Chhath Puja on October 28, 2025, in Gorakhpur. The first incident occurred in Dandi Khas village of the Gola area, where 35-year-old Chandan drowned in a pond while bathing after offering 'Arghya'. He was pulled out with the help of villagers, but doctors declared him dead.
The second incident took place in Ahirauli (II) village of Barhalganj, where 17-year-old Kamlesh drowned in a pond. He had come to his aunt's house to participate in Chhath Puja. Young men from the village tried to save him but were unsuccessful. Kamlesh's death has cast a pall of grief over his family.
