Gorakhpur, October 30, 2025 — Six police personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO), have been suspended and six accused arrested in connection with a serious firing incident under the Pipiganj police station in the district. An investigation into the role of the station officer has been ordered.
Police stated that an initial inquiry into the incident revealed a delay in taking action after receiving information about the firing. Due to this lax attitude, the station officer has been suspended. Additionally, six individuals have been arrested in the case and sent to jail.
Senior officials informed that a special team has been constituted for a fair investigation into the matter. The team will also examine whether necessary actions were not taken promptly after the firing and which rules were violated. Departmental inquiry and disciplinary action are being prepared against the suspended station officer.
The background of the incident and the reasons for the firing are currently under study. Information received from local residents and the local police is also being thoroughly examined to identify the culprits and prevent such incidents in the future.
