Government to Introduce Bill on Disqualification of Ministers Arrested in Criminal Cases

The central government is planning to introduce a bill related to criminal matters in Parliament. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has moved a proposal in the Lok Sabha to send this bill to a joint committee of Parliament.

New Delhi: The central government is preparing to introduce a bill in Parliament soon related to the removal of ministers and chief ministers in serious criminal cases. A debate has already started among political parties regarding this bill. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has moved a proposal in the Lok Sabha to send it to a joint committee of Parliament.

According to the bill, if the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Union Minister or a minister of any state/union territory is arrested or detained for 30 consecutive days on serious criminal charges, they may be removed from their post. This step is said to be taken with the aim of ensuring honesty and accountability in politics in the country.

Manoj Jha Expressed Objection

RJD MP Manoj Jha from Bihar has expressed serious objection to this bill. He said that this step is against the constitution and the difference between the accused and the convict has been erased. He alleged that the purpose of the bill is to destabilize opposition leaders. Manoj Jha said, this is a way that where you cannot win elections, you destabilize. BJP also wants to settle some of its own people. The Supreme Court had said about ED that you are becoming a part of politics.

He believes that this bill will have a huge impact on political processes and will disturb the balance in democracy. He also said that the opposition will oppose this bill and considers it against the constitution.

Sanjay Jha Welcomed

At the same time, JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha welcomed the bill. He described it as an important and positive step, which will ensure political responsibility and accountability. Sanjay Jha said, this is a very welcome step. The Prime Minister is taking himself into this ambit. This happened because when the court sent the chief ministers of the India alliance to jail, who roam around with the book of the constitution, they were running their government from Tihar Jail."

He says that this bill will be helpful in ensuring justice in such cases and preventing misuse of power. With the passage of this bill, all ministers, including the Prime Minister and Chief Minister, can be removed from their posts in the event of arrest on serious criminal charges. This will increase political accountability, but the opposition considers it a political weapon.
