Under the leadership of CM Bhupendra Patel in Gujarat, all ministers have resigned. Approximately 16 new faces will be included as part of a major cabinet reshuffle. The swearing-in ceremony will take place tomorrow morning at 11:30 AM, as the BJP focuses on its election strategy.
Gujarat Politics: Political activity has intensified in Gujarat. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, all ministers of the state government have resigned. A total of 16 ministers have relinquished their posts. The objective is to undertake a large-scale cabinet reshuffle and include new faces. The Chief Minister will submit the list of new cabinet members to the Governor by this evening, while the swearing-in ceremony will be held tomorrow morning at 11:30 AM.
Active Role of BJP Leadership
Senior BJP leaders are actively involved in the cabinet expansion. National Organization General Secretary Sunil Bansal has arrived in Gandhinagar and is holding meetings with State Party General Secretary Ratnakar. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has returned to Gandhinagar from Mumbai. Furthermore, most MLAs have also reached the MLA residence to mark their presence. This BJP strategy is clearly aimed at connecting the new ministers with the assembly and the public.
How Many New Faces Might Be Included?
According to sources, approximately 5 ministers might be retained in Gujarat's cabinet expansion, while several old faces could be removed. A total of 16 new ministers are likely to be included in the new cabinet. Among them, two women leaders may also be appointed as ministers. The new cabinet is estimated to have 20 to 23 members. This cabinet formation will be in line with the total 182 assembly seats and the maximum limit of 27 ministers.
Meeting of Prime Minister Modi and Central Leaders
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah held a long meeting with the Gujarat BJP leadership. During this meeting, strategies for cabinet expansion and the inclusion of new faces in the organization were discussed. According to sources, Prime Minister Modi wants the new ministers to connect directly with the state and the public, and to be visible among the people immediately after assuming their responsibilities.
Rule for Council of Ministers Formation
The Council of Ministers in Gujarat currently has 17 members, including 8 cabinet-level ministers and 8 Ministers of State (MoS). The Gujarat Assembly has 182 members, and accordingly, the number of ministers can be 15 percent of the total members, i.e., a maximum of 27. Earlier this month, there was also a cabinet change when Minister of State Jagdish Vishwakarma became the Gujarat BJP President, replacing Union Minister C. R. Patil.
