Three Men Gang-Rape Woman Twice in 24 Hours in Gujarat's Gir Somnath District

In Gujarat's Gir Somnath district, three men gang-raped a woman twice within 24 hours. The victim was admitted to the hospital. Police have launched a search for the accused.

Somnath: An incident that once again raises concerns about women's safety has emerged in Gujarat's Gir Somnath district. In the Una region of the district, three men abducted a widowed woman under the pretext of dropping her home and then gang-raped her. Police have confirmed the incident and immediately initiated action against the three accused.

According to the victim, the accused first took her to a secluded place and raped her one by one. After this, they took the woman to their house and assaulted her again. They threatened the woman with severe consequences if she reported the incident to anyone. This case not only raises questions about women's safety but also highlights the increasing nature of crime in society.

Police registered a case based on the victim's statement

The incident came to light when the victim arrived at Una's government hospital with severe abdominal pain. Based on her statement, doctors registered a medico-legal case (MLC) and informed the police. Inspector M.N. Rana, in charge of Navabandar Police Station, stated that the victim earns her livelihood through labor and is a widow. Investigations also revealed that her husband had passed away ten years ago.

Police have registered a case against the three accused based on the woman's complaint. This incident once again highlights the need for women's safety and legal action in society.

Acquaintances perpetrated the assault on the woman

The victim told the police that she was going to her village when three acquaintances on two motorcycles approached her. They offered to drop her off at the village. Since the woman knew them, she did not object to going with them.

However, as soon as they reached a secluded spot some distance away, they raped the woman one by one. After this, the three accused took her to their house and assaulted her again. This incident demonstrates that even seemingly familiar and trustworthy individuals can sometimes pose a threat to women.

Police begin search for accused

While leaving the victim, the accused threatened her with severe consequences if she reported the incident to anyone. Following this, the police immediately launched an extensive search for the accused with multiple teams.

As per Supreme Court directives, the victim's identity has been kept confidential. At the time of the incident, preparations were underway for President Droupadi Murmu's three-day visit to Gujarat. This incident has become a challenge for the administration and has increased police vigilance.
