According to reports, the case dates back to the recently concluded England tour of Pakistan Shaheens (A team). It is alleged that the incident took place on July 23, 2025, at a private premises in Manchester. The Greater Manchester Police said in their official statement:
"We have arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of rape. The incident took place in Manchester. The man is currently on bail and further investigations into the matter are ongoing."
Although the police did not reveal the player's name for legal reasons, international media reports, including Telecom Asia Sports, have claimed that the arrested player is Haider Ali.
How the Arrest Happened
According to sources, Haider Ali was arrested from Beckenham Ground in London, where Pakistan Shaheens were playing a match against MCCA (Marylebone Cricket Club Academy). It is reported that the complaint was filed by a woman of Pakistani origin. After the arrest, the police confiscated his passport and released him on bail after necessary questioning. He is currently in England and is facing legal proceedings.
The Pakistan Cricket Board reacted immediately to the matter. A spokesperson for the board said: "We have received information about this matter from the police in England. The PCB has suspended Haider Ali until the investigation is complete. We will conduct our internal investigation in England and fully cooperate in the legal process. At the same time, legal assistance will also be provided to the player." It was also clarified that the PCB is taking the matter seriously, as it affects the reputation of Pakistan cricket.
