Last Updated: 1 hour ago

On the fourth day of the Oval Test, Harry Brook, along with Joe Root, put England in a b position. He completed his 10th Test century in just 98 balls, scoring 111 runs. Brook has now become the first batsman in the world to score 10 Test centuries in 50 or fewer innings, a feat unmatched in the last 70 years.

Harry Brook Test Match Record: The fourth day of the ongoing fifth Test match between England and India was completely dominated by Harry Brook. When England started the day at 50 for 1, the match was evenly poised. However, after the quick dismissals of Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope, the team came under pressure. Brook and Joe Root then took charge and turned the tide of the match with a 195-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Harry Brook scored a blistering 111 runs off 98 balls, including 14 fours and 2 sixes. This was his 10th century in Test career, and he joined the ranks of select batsmen to achieve this milestone.

A Record Created for the First Time in 70 Years

Harry Brook scored this century in his 50th Test innings. Before this, the great West Indies batsman Clyde Walcott scored 10 centuries in 47 innings in 1955. That is, after 70 years, a batsman has repeated this achievement in so few innings. Brook has also become the first English batsman to reach this milestone.

Brook Becomes the Fastest Batsman to Score 10 Test Centuries in This Century

Brook also broke the record of Australia's Marnus Labuschagne, who completed 10 Test centuries in 51 innings. Now, Brook is at the top of the list of batsmen who have scored the fastest 10 centuries in the 21st century.

Fastest Batsmen to Score 10 Test Centuries in the 21st Century:

  • Harry Brook – 50 innings
  • Marnus Labuschagne – 51 innings
  • Kevin Pietersen – 56 innings
  • Andrew Strauss – 56 innings
  • Virender Sehwag – 56 innings

The fourth day's play had to be ended before the scheduled time due to rain. At the end of the day, England had scored 339 for 6. They now need only 35 runs to win, while India needs four wickets to win the match. However, there are reports that Chris Woakes will not come out to bat due to injury, so India may only need three wickets.
