Flood Damages 1676 Houses
According to the NDMA, the floods across the country have damaged 1676 houses so far. Among these, 562 houses have been completely destroyed, while 1114 houses have been partially damaged. The flood has affected not only people's lives and homes but also their livelihoods. More than 400 livestock have died, dealing a major blow to the rural economy.
223 Relief and Rescue Operations
In this disaster situation, the NDMA has conducted 223 relief and rescue operations so far. Under these operations, more than 2880 people have been evacuated to safer places. Under the relief operations, more than 13,400 essential items have been distributed, including 2000 tents, 958 blankets, 569 quilts, 613 mattresses, and more than 1100 food packets.
Relief Efforts Ongoing in Affected Areas
Relief efforts are being continuously carried out by the government and relief agencies in the areas most affected by the floods. People have been moved to temporary camps and are being provided with food, medicines, and other essential items. The NDMA says that the situation is being closely monitored and additional resources will be deployed if needed.
Weather Department Alert
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued an alert stating that there is a possibility of heavy rain again in the northern regions of the country between August 4 and August 6. This could further exacerbate the flood situation. The government has directed all concerned agencies to remain vigilant and prepared to deal with any potential threat.
