Asif Qureshi, the 42-year-old cousin of Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi, was allegedly murdered during a parking dispute. The incident took place on Thursday night, August 7, 2025, sending shockwaves through the area. Police have taken swift action in the case, arresting two suspects.
How the Incident Unfolded
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 11 pm in Jungpura Bhogal Lane, Nizamuddin. Some individuals had parked a scooter in front of the main gate of the deceased Asif Qureshi's house. When Asif asked them to remove it, a minor argument escalated into a fight. Reports indicate that the altercation intensified to the point where the accused attacked Asif with a sharp, pointed weapon.
He sustained deep wounds to his chest, leaving him critically injured. Family members and local residents rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead.
Wife's Statement: Prior Disputes Had Occurred
The deceased's wife, Shahnaz Qureshi, stated in her statement to the police that her husband and neighbors had previously had disputes over parking. She alleged that the accused had deliberately quarreled with Asif in the past and had threatened to attack him. Shahnaz said —
'On Thursday evening, when Asif returned from work, he saw that the neighbor's two-wheeler was parked in front of our gate. When he asked them to move it, the neighbor started verbally abusing him and then attacked him with a sharp object.'
Accused and Arrests
Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case:
- Ujjwal, son of Dinesh, age 19 years, resident of 7A, second floor, Church Lane, Bhogal, Jungpura, Delhi
- Gautam, son of Dinesh, age 18 years, resident of Bhogal, Jungpura, Delhi
- Both suspects reside in the same area, and initial police investigations have revealed that both had previous disputes with the deceased.
Police Investigation
The police have registered a case of murder and are thoroughly investigating the incident. Currently, the assistance of a forensic team is being sought to recover the weapon used in the murder and to confirm the entire sequence of events. The police are also investigating whether there was any old animosity behind this dispute. According to the DCP (South-East Delhi),
'We have arrested both the accused, and they are being interrogated. Initial investigations suggest that the dispute started over parking, but there may be underlying tensions as well.'
