On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 8 PM, in the Jail Road Market of the Shahpur Police Station area in Gorakhpur, a man shot his wife in the market. The deceased has been identified as Mamta Chauhan, and the accused husband is Vishwakarma Chauhan. Following the incident, the woman was promptly taken to a private hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
The accused had concealed a pistol under his helmet. During the altercation, he fired two shots, one in the chest and the other in the hand. After firing the shots, he remained standing there for about half an hour, repeatedly stating that she was troubling him immensely. Police arrived at the scene and arrested him.
