The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the 2027 ODI World Cup. India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group. The tournament, to be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, will be held from October 2 to November 21, 2027.
The 2027 ODI World Cup will feature 14 teams and a total of 57 matches across 12 venues. South Africa will host the highest number of matches, while Zimbabwe and Namibia will also stage international fixtures.
A total of 12 venues have been selected for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Eight venues in South Africa will host matches: Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, the Centurion venue, Newlands in Cape Town, Kingsmead in Durban, St George's Park in Gqeberha, Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, Boland Park in Paarl and Buffalo Park.
In Zimbabwe, matches will be played at Harare Sports Club, Queens Sports Club and the Fale Mosi-oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls. Namibia Cricket Ground in the capital Windhoek is also among the venues for the World Cup.
The World Cup will be conducted in three stages. In the opening stage, the three lowest-ranked teams will play three matches.
In the second stage, 12 teams will be divided into two groups and will play a total of 30 matches. Each team will face the other teams in its group. The top three teams from each group will advance to the next stage. In addition, the better-performing team among those finishing fourth in the two groups will also qualify for the next stage.
A total of seven teams will therefore advance to the Super-7 stage. The teams will compete in this stage for places in the next round. The top four teams in the points table at the end of the Super-7 stage will qualify for the semi-finals.
Group A consists of Afghanistan, Australia, India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Qualifier A.
Group B consists of Bangladesh, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Qualifier B.
