IIT Jodhpur Director Suffers Fractured Leg in Violent Altercation with Professor

Physical altercation between IIT Jodhpur Director Prof. Avinash Agarwal and Prof. Deepak Arora during a meeting, Director's leg fractured, other staff also injured. Both parties filed FIRs, case is in the spotlight.

Jodhpur: A college meeting at IIT Jodhpur in Rajasthan turned into a violent clash, in which the institute's Director, Professor Avinash Agarwal, was seriously injured. According to information, during a meeting of the Chemical Engineering Department, the dispute between the Director and Associate Professor Dr. Deepak Arora escalated to such an extent that Arora attacked the Director and fractured his leg.

This incident has sent shockwaves across the IIT campus, and both college administration and the police are investigating the matter. Following the incident, Jodhpur police have arrested Professor Arora.

Questions Raised on Five Years of Work 

According to information, the dispute began when Director Professor Avinash Agarwal questioned Arora's work over the past five years. Angered by this, Arora started an argument, and the situation deteriorated to the point where the Director instructed him to leave the room.

Instead of leaving, the enraged Arora attacked the Director. During this attack, the Director fell and sustained a severe leg injury. He was immediately admitted to AIIMS hospital in Jodhpur. This incident has caused widespread concern and outrage within the college.

Staff Member Injured While Intervening

During the commotion, Vivek Gautam, an employee in the Director's office, intervened to break up the fight, but Arora also attacked him. It is alleged that Arora also threatened Vivek and his family with their lives.

Vivek Gautam sustained serious injuries in this assault. Department Head Dr. Parag Deshpande and Dean of Faculty Affairs Dr. Neeraj Jain were also present at the scene during the incident and were stunned by the violence.

Complaints Filed by Both Sides

Following the incident, there was a commotion within the IIT campus. Both parties have filed complaints against each other at the police station. On behalf of the Director, Registrar Ankur Gupta stated in the report that Arora was accused of assault, abusive language, casteist remarks, and obstruction of public duty.

Conversely, Professor Arora also filed a complaint with the police, accusing the Director and others of wrongful confinement and assault. The administration and police are seriously investigating the matter, and stern action against the culprits is anticipated.
