IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Across Several States on August 26

IMD has forecast heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds across several states on August 26, 2026. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and other regions may experience rainfall activity.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and b winds across several parts of India on August 26, 2026. Weather conditions may change from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir, while eastern and central parts of the country are expected to see increased weather activity.

A low-pressure area has formed over and around Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and northern Odisha. According to the IMD regional bulletin, a cyclonic circulation is also present in the upper atmosphere along with the system, which is likely to move in a northwesterly direction.

The system may increase rainfall activity over Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas.

According to the available weather forecast, rainfall and thunderstorms may occur in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Rainfall intensity is not expected to be the same across all states. Some areas may receive heavy rainfall, while other regions may experience light to moderate rain and b winds.

Delhi is also likely to receive rain on August 26. The Delhi-NCR forecast includes monitoring of rainfall and thunderstorm activity. Some areas of the national capital may experience waterlogging and traffic disruption during rainfall.

In Uttar Pradesh, the weather department has issued warnings for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in several districts on August 26. These include Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, areas around Lucknow, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Deoria, Kushinagar, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Sultanpur, among others.

According to the IMD Uttar Pradesh bulletin, rainfall activity may continue in the state over the next few days in addition to August 26.

Weather activity is expected to remain high in Bihar on August 26. According to the IMD, the state may experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and b winds.

The department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for August 26 and August 27. People in Purnia, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Vaishali, Begusarai, Buxar and adjoining areas have been advised to exercise caution.

Several parts of Madhya Pradesh may receive heavy rainfall, particularly the northern and eastern parts of the state. The possibility of b winds and lightning may also increase during rainfall at the local level.

Some districts of Rajasthan may also experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Weather activity may occur in areas including Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Bharatpur, Karauli, Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar.
