IMD Issues Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm Warning for Several States on August 14

IMD has issued a weather warning for August 14, 2026, forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and parts of central India.

Amid an active monsoon spell, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of heavy rain, thunderstorms and b winds across several parts of the country for August 14, 2026. Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan and several areas of central India are expected to experience deteriorating weather conditions.

The IMD has forecast heavy rain for Delhi and adjoining areas on August 14. Its sub-division warning update has indicated heavy rain for Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.

Heavy rain could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas of the capital, affect traffic and create the possibility of lightning in some locations. Rain may also bring some decline in temperatures in Delhi. However, local weather conditions can change rapidly within a few hours, and travellers should check the latest forecast before setting out.

Several parts of Uttar Pradesh may experience rain and thunderstorms on August 14. The IMD has forecast the possibility of heavy rain in eastern Uttar Pradesh and several other areas. Rain activity is also expected to continue in western Uttar Pradesh.

In Bihar, thunderstorms and the risk of lightning may persist in some places along with rain. People are advised to avoid standing in open fields and near trees and electricity poles during such weather.

The risk in Himalayan states may increase due to continued rainfall. The IMD has forecast the possibility of heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh on August 14. Rain activity is also expected to continue in Uttarakhand.

During heavy rain in hilly areas, the possibility of landslides, sudden debris falls and disruption of road connectivity increases. Travellers in hilly areas need to check local administration advisories and the latest road conditions before proceeding.

Several parts of Rajasthan are expected to continue experiencing rain and thunderstorms on August 14. The IMD update has indicated a warning related to heavy rain and thunderstorms for western Rajasthan.

Monsoon activity is also expected to remain active in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Some areas may experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning and b winds. Additional caution is required in fields, open areas and construction sites during such conditions.
