Today marks the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Parliament House on December 13, 2001, one of the most painful chapters in India's democratic history. Across the country, tributes are being paid to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives.

New Delhi: Today is the 24th anniversary of the attack on Parliament House. The nation remembers those valiant sons who thwarted the terrorists' intentions, without regard for their own lives. On this occasion, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Sonia Gandhi, and many other leaders remembered the martyrs and paid them humble tributes.

Supreme Sacrifice in Defence of Democracy

On December 13, 2001, terrorists attacked the country's supreme legislative institution, Parliament House. Security forces and personnel attached to Parliament security displayed extraordinary bravery in stopping the terrorists. Several security personnel were martyred in this encounter, but their alertness and courage averted a major national crisis. Today is a symbol of remembrance and respect for those martyrs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the martyrs, stating that the nation will forever be indebted to their sacrifice. Recalling the bravery and dedication of the security forces, he said that the courage of these heroes will continue to inspire future generations.

Home Minister Amit Shah: Steadfast Resolve Against Terrorism

Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on social media that this day is a reminder of the indomitable courage of India's security forces against terrorism. He said that the cowardly attack on the temple of the world's largest democracy was thwarted by the soldiers' spirit. Shah reiterated that the nation will always be grateful for the sacrifice and dedication of these heroes.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that during the attack on Parliament, security personnel stood firm as an “impregnable shield.” He said that the nation will never forget their sacrifice while defending the soul of democracy. This courage and dedication will continue to inspire India's resolve.

Rahul Gandhi and Congress Leaders Pay Respects

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, paid his respects to the martyred soldiers, saying that the country will always remember their sacrifice and draw inspiration from it for patriotism. Congress leader Rajiv Shukla also paid tribute in the Parliament complex, stating that this day is a very sad day in parliamentary history, but the bravery of the security forces and Parliament staff thwarted the attack on democracy.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that every year on this day, tributes are paid to the martyrs in the Parliament complex. He recalled that when terrorists attacked the temple of democracy, these brave soldiers defended Parliament and the democratic system by sacrificing their lives.
