Tanvi Sharma and Unnati Hooda's Powerful Performance
India's young stars, Tanvi Sharma and Unnati Hooda, delivered an excellent performance in the Girls’ Singles category. Tanvi Sharma secured a dominant victory over China's Sun Li Yuan with a score of 15-8, 15-5. Throughout the match, Tanvi's aggressive play and excellent court coverage gave her Chinese opponent no chance.
Meanwhile, eighth seed Unnati Hooda entered the last eight by defeating Malaysia's Kerin T 15-10, 15-7. Unnati had a slow start to the match, but she made a b comeback in the second game, gaining complete control.
Tanvi Sharma will face Saki Matsumoto of Japan, while Unnati Hooda will compete against Thailand's second seed, Anyapat Phichitcharasak. The performance of both Indian players has been very impressive in the tournament so far, raising the country's hopes.
G Dattu TT's Resounding Victory
G Dattu TT, participating in the World Junior Championships for the first time, secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the Boys’ Singles category by defeating America's Garrett Tan 15-12, 15-13. The match was highly exciting. In the second game, Garrett Tan saved three match points at a score of 10-14, but Dattu clinched the match on the fourth match point.
After the match, Dattu said, "Garrett had more experience than me as he has played many senior tournaments. But I was confident that if I played my best, I could defeat him — and I'm happy that I was able to do so today." With this victory, Dattu not only reached the quarter-finals but also ignited new hope for India in the boys' singles category.
Bhavya Chhabra and Vishakha Toppo's Historic Comeback
The Indian mixed doubles pair, Bhavya Chhabra and Vishakha Toppo, also delivered an astonishing performance. They entered the quarter-finals by defeating France's third-seeded pair, Thibault Garden and Agathe Cuvas, 12-15, 15-11, 15-12. After losing the first game, the Indian pair made a remarkable comeback. In the decisive game, when the French pair was leading 11-8, Bhavya and Vishakha took six consecutive points to turn the match around.
After the victory, Bhavya said, "When we were trailing 8-11, the coach told us to play more aggressively and hit soft shots near the net. We followed his advice and won with that strategy." In the quarter-finals, this pair will face the Chinese Taipei team of Hung Ping Fu and Chou Yun En, who defeated the Korean pair Kim Tae Hyun and Moon In Seo 15-9, 15-11.
