Indian Railways Digitizes Out-of-Turn Promotions for Medal-Winning Athletes

Indian Railways has fully digitized the Out-of-Turn Promotion (OTP) process for medal-winning athletes via its HRMS platform, ensuring timely, transparent, and morale-boosting recognition from December 1, 2025.

Prayagraj – Indian Railways has taken a significant step to provide timely promotions to medal-winning athletes by fully digitizing the Out-of-Turn Promotion (OTP) process. The new system has been implemented since December 1, 2025.

A special module has been developed within the Railway's HRMS platform. As soon as an athlete wins a medal, their achievement will be recorded in the system, and the digital platform will automatically verify their eligibility. Subsequently, the promotion file will be directly routed to the concerned officials, and the order will be issued immediately upon approval.

Previously, athletes had to navigate a lengthy paper-based process to secure promotions. Often, files would move slowly, leading to delays in receiving promotions at the appropriate time. This issue will be resolved with the new digital process, ensuring that every case is processed with speed and transparency.

With the new system, athletes employed by Indian Railways will receive timely benefits for their achievements. There will be no delays in promotions.

The process will be transparent and trackable online.

Even old pending cases will be resolved in a timely manner.

The Railways states that this step has been taken to boost the morale of athletes and to honor their hard work promptly. The digital process will not only save time but also encourage sports personnel to progress in their careers.
