Instagram has launched new analytics features that will give creators deep insights into Reels and Carousel posts. Now, second-by-second likes, slide-wise engagement, and post-level audience data will be easily accessible.
Instagram New Update: Instagram has provided a significant and special update to its analytics tools for content creators. This new feature pack will help creators understand the performance of their content at a deep level — it will now be possible to know at which second of a Reel viewers liked it or which slide of a Carousel post was most engaging. This move by the Meta-owned social media platform aims to enable creators to not only track their engagement better but also determine which content is most appealing to which type of audience.
Reels to Get Second-by-Second Feedback
Now, in Instagram's Reels Insights, creators will be able to see at which second of the video a user pressed the 'like' button. This analytics will be displayed through an interactive chart that will indicate when the audience's attention was most piqued. This feature is especially helpful for creators who want to fine-tune the storyline and effects of their videos.
Additionally, other engagement metrics for Reels, such as—
- Total Likes
- Shares
- Saves
- Comments
- Accounts with Unique Interactions
will also be displayed in an updated format, making it easier to understand the overall performance of the video.
Slide-by-Slide Insights for Carousel Posts
Carousel Like Insights will now show which slide received the most reaction from users. For example, if a post has 5 images, this data will indicate which image prompted users to like. This will allow creators to understand which of their visual elements were more impactful.
- Instagram will now also show whether
- Followers and
- Non-Followers
are more actively interacting with the post. A visual pie chart will make this data engaging and easy to understand.
Post-Level Audience Analytics Also Included
Until now, Instagram only showed demographic details (age, country, language, gender, etc.) at the account level. However, now separate audience insights will be available for each Reel and Carousel post. This means you can now know which of your posts are more popular in which countries or age groups. This will make content planning and personalization even more accurate.
In-Depth Information on Followers Growth
Instagram has also re-designed the Follower Growth section. Now creators will be able to know
- After which Reel or post new followers joined
- When and how many users unfollowed
- How growth trends have been over a specific period
- This data will answer the question — 'Which content is bringing me followers?'
Significant Change in Viewers Metric
Instagram will soon replace 'Accounts Reached' with a new metric called 'Viewers'. This metric will provide more granular data, such as which type of content (video, photo, Carousel) users viewed the most and how long they stayed on it. It is designed to enable creators to analyze which of their content was merely scrolled past and which actually engaged the user.
Global Rollout and Future Plans
All these analytics features are being rolled out globally and will be available to all creators in the coming weeks. Instagram has indicated that it plans to make the analytics interface even more interactive and AI-supported in the future. Meta's aim is to empower creators to make data-driven decisions so that they can better determine the direction of their brand, audience, and content.
