Jaipur Police have arrested 152 drug traffickers and seized narcotics worth ₹5.5 crore in the past 2 months. Foreign nationals were also found to be involved. A comprehensive strategy and public participation are essential to curb the problem.

Rajasthan: The problem of drug trafficking is continuously becoming more serious in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Despite continuous police action, the traffickers' network remains active. Officials state that as soon as one trafficker is arrested, a new one immediately appears.

According to police data, 152 traffickers have been arrested in the last two months. Various narcotics worth approximately ₹5.50 crore were recovered from their possession. These include MD, smack, ganja, opium, and cocaine. However, an effective crackdown on the supply chain has not been achieved, maintaining the pace of trafficking.

Online Networks Also Active

The investigation has also revealed that foreign nationals are involved in the drug trafficking network. 13 foreign traffickers have been arrested in the past two months. These accused were bringing consignments of drugs to Jaipur through interstate and international networks.

Police have found that traffickers are using hotels, rented accommodations, and online platforms to avoid surveillance. The growing demand for drugs among youth and its easy availability in the city are becoming a major support for trafficking. Drug abuse poses a serious threat to young people in schools, colleges, and urban areas.

Comprehensive Strategy Needed for Improvement

Officials believe that a solution is not possible without reaching the root of the problem. It is necessary to break the trafficking supply chain, stop funding, and strengthen drug de-addiction campaigns.

Along with this, it is also very important to strengthen public participation and the information system. If these steps are not taken, the increasing trend of drug abuse among the youth will remain a serious threat to society.

Jaipur Police Action

Jaipur Police have taken large-scale action against drug trafficking, registering 130 cases and arresting 152 traffickers. During this period, a total of 34.5 kg of ganja, 260 grams of opium, 196 grams of charas, 863 grams of smack, 77 grams of cocaine, and 200 grams of MD were seized. In addition, the police seized 16,120 capsules/tablets of narcotic drugs and 18 vehicles. The total value of the recovered material is estimated at ₹5.49 crore.

The police are continuously cracking down on traffickers, but the growing demand for drugs is giving them new courage. It is difficult to completely curb this problem without a comprehensive strategy and the help of the public.
