Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday flagged off 100 new buses from his camp office. The inclusion of these new buses will provide significant convenience and relief to passengers, especially those travelling in mountainous and remote areas.
Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has taken a major step to further strengthen the state's transport system. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami formally flagged off 100 new buses from his camp office on Thursday. The addition of these new buses to the fleet is expected to provide considerable relief in the movement of passengers, particularly in the state's mountainous and remote regions.
“A robust transport system is the backbone of economic development” - Chief Minister Dhami
On this occasion, Chief Minister Dhami said that in a state with challenging geographical conditions like Uttarakhand, a robust and modern transport system is not only a convenience but also the backbone of economic development. He stated that the new buses will not only provide passengers with safe and affordable travel but also infuse new energy into tourism, social and economic activities in the state.
Dhami said, “We are constantly striving to ensure that the Transport Corporation remains b and can provide passengers with the highest level of convenience. That is why more than 13 new bus stations and workshops have been completed in the state so far. In addition, bus stations, including four ISBTs, are under construction at 14 other locations. In the future, electric buses will also be included in the corporation's fleet to promote environmentally friendly transport.”
Buses equipped with high-tech facilities
The 100 buses included in the new fleet are equipped with state-of-the-art technology. These buses feature GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, e-ticketing systems, fleet monitoring, and timely maintenance facilities. These features will not only ensure passenger safety but also improve the safety and efficiency of employees.
The Chief Minister stated that the government, keeping in mind the interests of the corporation employees, has also increased dearness allowance, implemented the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, and addressed the shortage of employees through new recruitments. This has not only boosted employee morale but also improved the quality of service.
In a tourism-dependent state like Uttarakhand, the strengthening of transport services directly impacts economic activities.
