The Jaipur Municipal Corporation is continuing its strict action against those littering in the city. A fine of ₹2.57 lakh has been collected in the last two days. The cleanliness drive has gained momentum with CCTV surveillance, a ban on single-use plastic, and immediate issuance of challans.
Jaipur: To keep Jaipur city clean and beautiful, the Municipal Corporation has strengthened its surveillance system. Immediate action is being taken against those who throw garbage on the roads, dirty public places, and use prohibited plastic. A clear example of this was seen in the Civil Lines Zone on Saturday, when two individuals were caught on CCTV cameras throwing garbage on the street.
As soon as information was received from the control room, a team from the Municipal Corporation reached the spot. After investigation, a carrying charge of ₹10,000 was collected from Dinesh Kumar Leelaramani, a resident of Ajmer Road. Additionally, the individuals involved were made to pledge not to litter on the roads in the future. The Municipal Corporation believes that awareness is essential along with fines, so that people understand their responsibility.
Millions in Fines in Two Days
The Municipal Corporation's actions related to the cleanliness drive have been significantly intensified in the past two days. A total fine of ₹2.57 lakh has been collected during this period. Notably, a special campaign was conducted against single-use plastic, resulting in the seizure of 20 kilograms of prohibited plastic.

More than ₹1.78 lakh in fines have been levied solely for the use of single-use plastic. This clearly indicates that the Municipal Corporation is not taking plastic pollution lightly. Officials state that plastic not only increases litter but also has a detrimental effect on the environment and health. Therefore, continuous monitoring is being carried out in markets, shops, and public places.
24-Hour Surveillance with 184 CCTV Cameras
Deputy Commissioner of the Health Branch, Om Thanvi, stated that the city is being monitored from the Integrated Command and Control Center located in the Smart City Limited office. 24-hour surveillance is being maintained through 184 CCTV cameras installed in major markets and streets of Jaipur. He clarified that strict action will continue to be taken against those who litter in public places and use prohibited plastic. The Municipal Corporation's objective is not only to collect fines but also to bring about a change in people's habits.
Several steps have already been taken to prevent littering. Temporary garbage dumps have been removed from the city and plants have been planted there, and benches have been installed for senior citizens. This has increased pedestrian traffic and reduced incidents of garbage dumping in those areas. This experiment has proven successful in colonies like Shivaji Nagar.
In addition, regular patrols are being conducted in markets and challans are being issued immediately for throwing garbage on the streets. The Municipal Corporation says that Jaipur can only be made clean, beautiful, and hygienic with the cooperation of the public.
