Major Administrative Reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir: 14 IAS Officers Transferred

Significant administrative reshuffling has taken place in Jammu and Kashmir. 14 IAS officers have been transferred. These administrative changes follow an order from the Lieutenant Governor administration of Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir divisions have received new Divisional Commissioners.

Srinagar: A major administrative reshuffle has been witnessed in the Jammu and Kashmir administration. The Union Territory's government issued orders on Monday transferring 14 IAS officers. Under this change, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of several districts have been changed, and the Kashmir division has also received a new Divisional Commissioner. This decision is considered an important step towards strengthening administrative efficiency and good governance in Jammu and Kashmir.

Anshul Garg becomes the new Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir Division

Anshul Garg, a 2013 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir Division. Prior to this, he was serving as the CEO of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. He has now been entrusted with the responsibility of a large and sensitive area, which is considered important from the point of view of the administrative system of the valley.

DCs of these districts have been changed

  1. Kupwara – Shrikanth Balasaheb Suse: Shrikanth Balasaheb Suse, a 2016 batch IAS officer, has been made the new Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara. Earlier, he was serving as the Managing Director of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL).
  2. Jammu – Dr. Rakesh Minhas: Dr. Rakesh Minhas, formerly DC of Kathua, has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Jammu. He is a 2016 batch officer and has been assigned an important district in terms of administrative experience.
  3. Samba – Ayushi Sudan: Ayushi Sudan, a 2017 batch IAS officer, has been made the new DC of Samba district. Earlier, she was handling the responsibility of Kupwara and has now been given the responsibility of another important district in the Jammu region.
  4. Bandipora – Indu Kanwal Chib: Indu Kanwal Chib has been made the new Deputy Commissioner of Bandipora district. Prior to this, she was serving as the Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB).
  5. Poonch – Ashok Kumar Sharma: Ashok Kumar Sharma, who was serving as Special Secretary in the Department of Labour and Employment, has now been made the Deputy Commissioner of Poonch. This district is border and strategically important.
  6. Kathua – Rajesh Sharma: Rajesh Sharma, formerly DC of Samba district, has now been given command of Kathua district. This change is being seen as administrative balance.

 Strategy behind the administrative reshuffle

This extensive administrative change taking place in Jammu and Kashmir is being considered a strategic decision towards ensuring political stability and better governance. These transfers have been made with the aim of strengthening administrative efficiency, local development and law and order. Experts believe that this change was necessary to accelerate the upcoming local body elections and development projects underway in the Union Territory.
