The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board has initiated the recruitment process for more than 600 constable posts in the police department. The minimum age for applicants has been set at 18 years, and selection will be conducted through a written examination, Physical Standard Test, Physical Endurance Test, and document verification.
The recruitment drive is being carried out under the Jammu and Kashmir Police to fill over 600 vacant constable positions. The application process has already begun, and the last date for submission of applications is March 2, 2026.
Candidates will be selected through multiple stages, starting with a written examination, followed by physical tests and document verification.
The minimum age requirement for the constable posts is 18 years. The maximum age limit varies by category, with limits of 28 years for certain posts, 30 years for others, and up to 40 years for candidates belonging to reserved categories. Additional age relaxation for SC, ST, and other reserved categories will be applicable as per government rules.
Applicants are required to check the official notification for category-wise age limits and eligibility conditions before applying.

The application fee for candidates belonging to the general category is set at Rs 700, while candidates from SC, ST, and EWS categories are required to pay Rs 600. The fee must be paid through online mode, and applications without payment of the prescribed fee will not be considered.
The selection process will begin with a written examination comprising multiple-choice questions. The examination will be conducted in the English language, and a negative marking of one-fourth of a mark will be applied for each incorrect answer.
Candidates who qualify the written examination will be called for the Physical Standard Test and Physical Endurance Test. These stages will assess physical parameters including height, weight, chest measurements, and running ability. Clearing both stages will be mandatory.
In the final stage, document verification will be conducted to verify educational certificates, age proof, and identity-related documents. Final selection will be confirmed only after all documents are found to be in order.
