Kanpur Secures Second Position in Uttar Pradesh Exports, Driven by Leather Industry

Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has achieved a significant milestone in exports, securing the second position in the state after Gautam Buddh Nagar. This achievement is considered a crucial step in the economic development of the region.

Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh has created a new record in fiscal year 2024-25 with exports totaling ₹1.86 lakh crore. This is the highest annual export figure for the state to date. According to data released by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), Kanpur Nagar has made a tremendous leap in the export sector, securing the second position after Gautam Buddh Nagar.

Uttar Pradesh's Total Export Figure: ₹1.86 Lakh Crore

According to Alok Srivastava, Assistant Director of FIEO, Uttar Pradesh exported ₹1,86,059 crore in fiscal year 2024-25, reflecting a 12% increase compared to the previous year's (2023-24) figure of ₹1.70 lakh crore. This is the largest surge in the export history of Uttar Pradesh.

The highest exports from Kanpur were of leather products, totaling ₹6,000 crore. This reaffirms Kanpur's identity as a major leather and textile hub in India. The major products exported from the state include:
