Female Military Officers in Uniform on Independence Day KBC Episode Spark Controversy. Explanation of Operation Sindoor Strategy Leads to Opposition. Opposition Deems it Inappropriate Disclosure of Professional and Sensitive Military Information.
Operation Sindoor: A recent episode of the popular TV quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), aired on the occasion of Independence Day, has become embroiled in political and social controversy. The presence of three female military officers – Colonel Sophia Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Major Prerna Devasthali – in the episode has raised questions among the opposition and the public.
Opposition parties argue that officers in uniform are discussing sensitive military operations by participating in a private entertainment show. This raises the question of whether officers from the army and other security forces can sit in public entertainment programs in their uniforms, and whether this is appropriate for a professional image.
Kerala Congress and Shiv Sena Raise Questions
The Kerala Congress has bly objected to this matter. The party stated that in any country with professional military traditions, it is unimaginable for officers in uniform to sit on a private entertainment show and explain operation strategies to a Bollywood actor. The Congress described it as a "scene of New India" and alleged that it is being witnessed under the rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also raised questions. She stated that the channel on which the program was broadcast, whose parent company is Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), holds the broadcasting rights for India-Pakistan matches and earns commercial profits from it. She said that the leading female officers of Operation Sindoor were invited to the channel's show, while the channel will profit from India-Pakistan matches.
Promo of the TV Show
In a recently released promo of KBC, Amitabh Bachchan is seen giving the officers a grand welcome. In the promo, Colonel Sophia Qureshi is seen saying that Pakistan repeatedly committed terrorist incidents and it was necessary to respond. This is why Operation Sindoor was planned.
This promo has attracted the attention of both the media and the public, and has also sparked a debate about whether it is appropriate to display sensitive information about military operations on TV.
