Kech Deputy Commissioner's Convoy Attacked in Turbat, Balochistan; Several Injured

The cycle of violence continues in Balochistan. In Turbat, the convoy of the Kech Deputy Commissioner was attacked with a remote-controlled bomb, injuring several security personnel and passersby. Several attacks also occurred in the province last week, and the security situation remains serious.

Pakistan News: The series of violence and terrorist activities continues unabated in Pakistan's Balochistan province. Pakistani security forces are being targeted in various parts of the province. Recently, a powerful explosion once again occurred in the Turbat area, causing damage to security forces and civilians.

Attack on Kech Deputy Commissioner's Convoy in Turbat

According to sources, the blast occurred on Press Club Road in the Turbat area. At the time of the explosion, Kech Deputy Commissioner Bashir Barech was passing through the area with his convoy. At least seven security personnel and one passerby were injured in this attack. However, Deputy Commissioner Bashir Barech remained safe as he was in a bulletproof vehicle. His vehicle sustained only minor damage in the explosion.

Blast Carried Out with Remote Control

Balochistan police senior official Zohaib Mohsin stated that the attack was carried out using a remote-controlled motorcycle bomb. He said, “This explosion occurred as the convoy was passing, posing a serious threat to security forces and passersby.” He further informed that five personnel of the paramilitary force ‘Levies’ were also injured in the blast. Later, the number of injured increased to eight.

Intensity of the Blast 

Zohaib Mohsin stated that the blast was so powerful that four nearby vehicles and adjacent buildings were also damaged. Police and Frontier Corps personnel immediately reached the scene and commenced investigation. Officials said that the promptness of the security forces and the Deputy Commissioner's bulletproof vehicle averted loss of life.

Continuous Attacks by Baloch Rebels

This attack in Balochistan occurred at a time when several other attacks had taken place in the province last week. Baloch rebels had carried out IED blasts in Kalat and Kech districts. In these attacks, three Pakistani soldiers were killed and several were injured. The rebels stated that their objective is to target Pakistan's security forces. The first attack occurred in the Grap area of Kalat district, and the second in the Gorkop area of Kech district.
