Treatment Underway at Evercare Hospital

Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on November 23 after complaining of a severe lung infection. Initially, she was kept in the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), but her condition deteriorated, necessitating her transfer to a ventilator. A medical board comprising local and foreign specialists is monitoring her at the hospital. According to doctors, the infection has severely affected her heart and lungs, complicating her condition further.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir informed the media that the former Prime Minister's condition remains “extremely critical” and doctors are continuously monitoring her health.

Chief Advisor of Interim Government Also Expresses Concern

Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of Bangladesh's interim government, has also expressed deep concern over Khaleda Zia's health condition. According to reports, on Friday night, he sent government advisor Asif Nazrul to the hospital to inquire about the former Prime Minister's condition. This step indicates that the current administration is also seriously concerned about her health.

Begum Khaleda Zia has been battling several serious illnesses for a long time. She already suffers from conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney-related complications. Due to this, doctors are exercising extra caution regarding her condition. On January 8 this year, she went to London for advanced treatment. She received treatment at the London Clinic for approximately 17 days there.

Subsequently, from January 25, she remained under the care of specialist doctors at her son Tarique Rahman's residence. After completing her treatment in the UK, she returned to Bangladesh on May 6.
