This incident brings to mind the brutality that occurred a year ago at RG Kar Medical College. The police have arrested three suspects in this case, including a former student of the college and two employees. The incident has also caused a stir in the state's politics.
Crime occurred on the night of June 25
In her statement to the police, the victim stated that she was gang-raped in a room within the college between approximately 7:30 PM and 8:50 PM on the evening of June 25. According to the victim, one of the accused raped her while the other two aided him. After the incident, she somehow composed herself and reached the Kasba police station to file a complaint.
All three suspects arrested, police investigating
The police took action immediately after receiving the complaint and arrested all three suspects the very next day, June 26. The names of the arrested suspects have not yet been made public, but according to the police, one suspect is a former student of the college, while the other two are college employees. The police have also seized the suspects' mobile phones and the process of presenting them in court is underway.
Medical examination conducted at National Medical College
Based on the victim's complaint, the police first took her to the National Medical College for a medical examination. The team of doctors has prepared a report, which will be an important part of the investigation. Also, the police have started a forensic investigation of the college room where the incident occurred.
Inquiry of family members also
The police have also called the family members of all three suspects to the police station and questioned them. However, the family members have denied any knowledge of the incident. BJP targets TMC
Regarding this matter, Amit Malviya, the head of the Bharatiya Janata Party's National Information and Technology Cell, has directly attacked the ruling Trinamool Congress. He wrote on social media, "On June 25, a gang rape incident occurred with a female student at a law college located in the Kasba area of Kolkata. A former student of the college and two employees are involved in this. According to reports, one of the accused is associated with TMC."
Malviya further wrote, "The incident at RG Kar Medical College has not been forgotten yet, and once again questions have been raised about the safety of women. West Bengal is becoming an unsafe state for women under Mamata Banerjee's rule. Rape is now becoming a common tragedy here."
BJP's claim: The party stands with the victim
The BJP leader said that the party stands with the victim and her family and will make every possible effort to punish the criminals. He raised serious questions about law and order and demanded an answer from the state government.

So far, no official response has come from the Trinamool Congress regarding this incident. However, the police department is actively involved in the investigation and the background of the suspects is being examined.
