Kota: A new world record was established in Kota, Rajasthan, on October 2, during the Dussehra fair, with the burning of a 233-foot-tall effigy of Ravana. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were present at this historic event. On this occasion, effigies of Kumbhakarna and Meghanad were also burnt. Thousands of people gathered at the Dussehra ground to enjoy this unique spectacle.

World Record Set by Burning 233-Foot-Tall Ravana Effigy

The festival of Dussehra was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country as a symbol of the victory of good over evil. Kota's National Dussehra Fair was even more special this year as a 233-foot-tall effigy of Ravana was burnt here, setting a new record as the tallest ever. Previously, the record was held by a 210-foot-tall Ravana effigy in Delhi.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma stated that Dussehra symbolizes the victory of justice over injustice. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, on the other hand, conveyed a message to all attendees that the burning of Ravana inspires us to abandon ego and walk the path of truth. He expressed hope that this event would contribute to enhancing cultural and social awareness across the country.

Grand Burning of Effigies at the National Dussehra Fair

The 132nd National Dussehra Fair was jointly inaugurated by the Chief Minister and the Lok Sabha Speaker. During this, Ijyaraj Singh, the head of Kota's erstwhile royal family, led the procession of Lord Lakshminarayan. The colossal effigy of Ravana was set ablaze by an arrow shot by him, which filled the spectators with excitement and enthusiasm.

The grandeur of the effigies captivated everyone's attention at this historic event. Along with the 233-foot-tall Ravana, 60-foot-tall effigies of Kumbhakarna and Meghanad were also burnt. This magnificent sight further enlivened the tradition and religious significance of Dussehra.

Preparation of Effigies and Artisans' Hard Work

Tejendra Chauhan, an artisan from Ambala, and his 25-member team constructed these massive effigies after four months of hard work. Special attention was paid to the structure, design, and safety of the effigies. This effort proved that Indian folk art and tradition possess a wonderful blend of diligence and innovation.

This contribution by the artisans is not only a symbol of art but also reflects the vibrancy of Indian culture. Thousands of people admired the grandeur and details of the effigies by viewing them up close.

CM Bhajanlal Sharma's Statement 

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma stated that Kota Dussehra is not merely a festival but a confluence of culture and religious beliefs. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the burning of Ravana conveys the message to abandon ego and walk on the path of truth and justice.
