Los Angeles Apple Store Looted Amidst Violent Protests; Citywide Curfew Imposed

Apple Store looted during Los Angeles protests; arson and violence erupt across several areas. Citywide curfew imposed to control the situation.

California Violence: Protests in Los Angeles, California, have turned violent in recent days. On Monday night, a looting incident occurred at a prominent Apple Store in the city. Viral videos show masked protestors entering the store and stealing expensive gadgets, including iPhones, MacBooks, and other devices.

Looting Video Goes Viral on Social Media

A viral video shows rioters fleeing the store as police arrive. The looting, despite the police presence, raises questions about law and order in the city.

Violence and Arson on the Streets

The looting was not an isolated incident. Reports of arson and vandalism have emerged from various parts of the city. Protestors set fire to numerous vehicles and vandalized several shops. Clashes between police and protestors also occurred during the demonstrations.

Mayor Karen Bass Imposes Curfew

Given the severity of the situation, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced a curfew from 8 PM to 6 AM. She stated that the curfew may continue for several days but will not apply to residents or those working in the affected areas. The Mayor explicitly stated that those involved in spreading violence will not be spared and will be held accountable.

Trump Administration's Strong Response

In response to the chaos in Los Angeles, President Donald Trump ordered the deployment of an additional 2000 National Guardsmen and 700 Marines to the city, adding to the already present 2000 Guardsmen. This significantly increases the number of troops in the city.

Governor Gavin Newsom's Opposition

California Governor Gavin Newsom bly opposed Trump's decision, calling it a violation of state rights and a provocative move. He believes this is not a matter of public safety but an attempt to satisfy the President's ego.

Underlying Cause of the Protests: Immigration Policy

The main cause behind these violent incidents is attributed to the Trump administration's strict immigration policy. Recently, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency conducted raids in several areas of Los Angeles, detaining 118 undocumented immigrants.

Thousands took to the streets in protest of these arrests. In areas like the Fashion District, Compton, and Home Depot, protestors blocked roads, set vehicles on fire, and attacked government buildings.

Conflict Between Police and Protestors

During the protests, police used tear gas, rubber bullets, and flash-bang grenades, further escalating tensions. Police claim that the rioters have been identified and will soon be arrested.

ICE Raids and Resentment Within the Latino Community

ICE claims to have also detained 77 other suspects in the Greater LA area. This action was part of Trump's campaign promises, but the Latino community views this move as discriminatory, fueling further outrage.
