According to the Meteorological Department, the city’s temperature was recorded around 2.4 degrees Celsius above normal. Residents are also not receiving relief from the heat during the night.

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a ‘warm night’ alert for today, indicating that temperatures will remain above normal during the night, causing continued heat and humidity.

Green nets have been installed at several major intersections in the city to provide relief from the heat. The measure is intended to protect people standing at traffic signals from direct sunlight.

Roads in Lucknow are appearing largely deserted during afternoon hours, with people stepping outside only for essential work.

Doctors have advised people to drink more water, wear light clothing and avoid exposure to sunlight during the afternoon. Special caution has been advised for elderly people and children.

The Health Department has instructed hospitals to remain alert for cases of heat stroke and dehydration.

Rising electricity consumption in the city has increased pressure on the power system. In several areas, residents are facing both heat and power cuts.

People are also continuing to post about the intense heat on social media, with several users reporting a lack of relief from high temperatures during both the day and night.

Experts say persistent heatwave conditions and warm nights are indications of climate change. The need for increased greenery and improved heat management in urban areas is also rising.
