Cloud cover persisted over Lucknow from Saturday morning, while high humidity increased discomfort despite the absence of b sunshine. According to the India Meteorological Department, weather conditions may change as the day progresses, with the possibility of rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The department has also indicated signs of the monsoon regaining momentum across Uttar Pradesh from Saturday.
Although the lack of direct sunlight made conditions appear relatively pleasant during the morning, low wind speeds and high humidity resulted in humid weather. People travelling outdoors experienced discomfort due to the humidity, while office-goers and school students were also affected by the prevailing weather conditions.
Meteorologists said the influence of a seasonal weather system over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas could reactivate the monsoon across several parts of Uttar Pradesh. As a result, Lucknow and surrounding areas may receive light to moderate rainfall, with heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms at some locations.
If rainfall occurs during the day, temperatures may decline and humidity-related discomfort is expected to reduce. However, high moisture levels before the onset of rain may continue to cause inconvenience.
The weather department has advised people to avoid standing in open fields, near tall trees, and close to electric poles during thunderstorms. Motorists have also been advised to exercise caution while driving during rainfall and avoid waterlogged roads.
Agricultural experts said that if the monsoon remains active over the next few days, paddy and other kharif crops are likely to benefit. In urban areas, rainfall may lower temperatures, although waterlogging could develop in low-lying locations. Civic authorities have been directed to ensure that drainage systems remain functional.
Health experts have advised people to drink adequate water, wear light cotton clothing, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or hot environments during humid weather. Children, elderly people, and those with pre-existing illnesses have been advised to take additional precautions.
Cloudy conditions continue over Lucknow, and the weather department has forecast the possibility of thunderstorms and rainfall during the day. Signs of renewed monsoon activity from Saturday indicate that rainfall may increase across the state capital and adjoining areas in the coming days.
