Malegaon Blast Case: All Accused Acquitted, Political Reactions Emerge

The NIA special court has acquitted all seven accused in the Malegaon bomb blast case of Maharashtra. Political reactions are emerging following this decision. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya welcomed the court's verdict.

Malegaon Blast Case 2025: The NIA Special Court has acquitted all seven accused in the sensational 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case in Maharashtra. Following this landmark decision, a wave of reactions has begun in political circles. Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has welcomed the court's decision, calling it a b blow to the theory of saffron terror.

Posting on his official social media account, Maurya said, "The court's decision in the Malegaon blast case is commendable. It has demolished the Congress's malicious attempt to fabricate saffron terrorism."

What was the Malegaon Bomb Blast Case?

The Malegaon bomb blast occurred on September 29, 2008, when the holy month of Ramadan was underway in the city and Navratri was approaching. The blast killed 6 people and injured more than 100. The initial investigation into the attack was conducted by the Maharashtra ATS, which accused people associated with some Hindu organizations.

In 2011, the case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). After several years of investigation, in 2016, the NIA filed its chargesheet, in which several accused were given relief on the basis of insufficient evidence. Finally, on April 19, 2025, the hearing was completed, and in the last week of July 2025, the court acquitted all seven accused.

Keshav Prasad Maurya's Major Attack on Congress

Describing the decision as a victory for justice, Deputy CM Maurya launched a scathing attack on the Congress. He alleged that the UPA government and the then Congress-NCP government of Maharashtra deliberately tried to create a narrative of saffron terrorism by targeting Hindu organizations and individuals. He said, "The governments then framed innocent Hindus in false cases instead of searching for the real culprits, pressured them to confess to crimes, and conspired to defame organizations like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh."

Questions Raised on RSS and the Gandhi Family as well

In his statement, Maurya also said that the ideology of the Congress Party and the Gandhi family has been biased towards nationalist organizations and Hinduism from the beginning. He claimed that this strategy of Congress was part of an attempt to weaken Indian culture and nationalism. He wrote, "The sole objective of Congress has been to do vote bank politics by linking Hindu organizations with terrorism. But today's decision exposes all those false allegations and malicious politics."

The court's decision in sensitive cases like the Malegaon blast has a wide social and political impact. While on the one hand, this decision reflects the impartiality of the justice system, on the other hand, it has also become the center of political rhetoric.
