She stated that when democracy is at stake, secularism is threatened, and federalism is being weakened, it becomes the duty of citizens to firmly protect the guidance provided by the Constitution. Banerjee reiterated the importance of the Constitution, describing it as the best foundation of India's diversity and unity.
Mamata Banerjee shared a message on 'X', appealing to the people of the country to cherish and commit to protecting the values enshrined in the Constitution. She stated that this document is not merely a legal text but a symbol of the nation's soul and identity, which has woven India into a common thread despite its diversities.
Mamata Banerjee's Tribute on Constitution Day
On the occasion of Constitution Day, Mamata Banerjee paid tribute to the framers of India's Constitution. She said that this day is an opportunity to remember those great individuals who, by shaping India's future direction, created a Constitution capable of facing every challenge of time. Banerjee specifically mentioned Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Constitution, calling him the nation's guide.

She stated that the members from Bengal who were part of the Constituent Assembly also made significant contributions to the creation of the Constitution, and their efforts further enriched the document. According to Banerjee, the Constitution is the backbone of the country's democratic structure, which incorporates India's diversity of cultures, languages, and communities into an integrated federal framework.
Concerns Regarding Democracy and Secularism
In her message, Mamata Banerjee described the current times as challenging, stating that democracy is undergoing various pressures. She claimed that secularism is being weakened and federalism is under attack. In such an environment, the role of citizens becomes even more critical.
She stated, 'Now, when democracy is at stake, when secularism is threatened, when federalism is being dismantled, we must protect the valuable guidance of our Constitution.'
